Maria Pereira is enrolled in the MA in Political Philosophy at the University of Minho since 2017, currently developing her MA Thesis. She graduated in Social Education by Escola Superior de Educação do Porto (Instituto Politécnico do Porto) in 2014, where, afterwards, took part of an evaluation project regarding teaching approaches of Philosophy in early ages (coordinated by PhD António Guedes).
Particularly moved by the question of justice and equality, and concerned with the themes of labor and political organization, she took part on several civic projects centered on human development and social justice (such as G.A.S.Porto or PETI – project for the eradication of child-labor in Goiás, Brazil).
Her MA Thesis questions the applicability of an Universal Basic Income in contrast with a politics of full employment as a mean to achieve a fairer society, particularly in terms of their application under a political project of a liberal socialism or of property-owning demaocracy.
